Tom Whipple
Tom Whipple is Science Writer at The Times, and a presenter of Inside Science on BBC Radio 4.
He has been covering science since 2011. In his career he has interviewed Stephen Hawking, been to the tunnels under Cern and competed in the world sauna championships. He was named UK science journalist of the year for his coverage of the covid pandemic. In 2025, he won first place in the Pharmaceutical Strategies and Innovation category of the Semmelweis–Richter Journalism Award.
